Celebrate Stitch Day with a Chalk Silhouette Craft!

It’s June 26 — that means it’s officially Stitch Day (Experiment 626)!

To celebrate, we got a little messy and made a colorful craft using one of our favorite troublemakers.

This chalk silhouette craft is super simple and totally magical — perfect for Disney fans, young artists, or anyone looking to add a little color to their day.

Supplies:

Black construction paper

Colorful chalk or sidewalk chalk

Printed silhouette of Stitch

Painter’s tape (or masking tape)

Scissors or a cutting machine

Optional: space stickers or star glitter

 Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Cut Out Stitch. Start by printing a silhouette of Stitch — you can find one on Etsy, Pinterest, or trace your own if you’re feeling artsy. Cut it out using scissors or a cutting machine like a Cricut.

2. Tape It Down. Roll small pieces of painter’s tape and stick them to the back of your Stitch cutout. Gently press it onto the center of a sheet of black construction paper.

3. Add Chalk Lines. Using your colorful chalk, draw short lines perpendicular to the edges of the silhouette. We used a rainbow of colors, and it made Stitch really pop!

4. Smudge the Magic. Now the fun part — smudge all the chalk lines using your fingers. Pull the chalk away from the edge of Stitch, blending it outward across the paper. The more smudging, the better the effect!

5. Reveal the Silhouette. Carefully peel off the Stitch cutout, and you’ll be left with a striking black silhouette of Stitch surrounded by a cloud of chalky rainbow magic.

6. Add Some Disney Sparkle (Optional). Want to take it even further? Decorate your background with space stickers, stars, or glitter to give your Stitch a galactic touch.

 Why We Love This Craft:

It’s quick, budget-friendly, and turns out so cool every single time. Plus, it gave us the perfect excuse to talk about our favorite Stitch memories while we worked — like our Elvis Stitch meet-and-greet at the Disney water parks and Hayley’s giant Stitch plush from our last trip.
