During our most recent Walt Disney World trip, we stayed at the iconic Grand Floridian Resort & Spa — and it truly lived up to the magic.
We stayed in the Old Pine Key building, part of the Disney Vacation Club section of the resort, but anyone can book a room there (you don’t have to be a DVC member!). Our room was absolutely beautiful — spacious, elegant, and filled with charming Mary Poppins theming that was practically perfect in every way.

Our Room Setup
Our room had two queen beds and a pull-out couch, which was perfect for our family with one boy and one girl — everyone had their own bed! The rooms have 440 sq feet feet, so there was plenty of room to unpack, relax, and feel at home.

A Couple Things to Keep in Mind
While there are so many things to love about Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there are a couple of downsides to be aware of:
Price: The Grand Floridian is a deluxe resort, and it comes with a deluxe price tag. If you’re looking for that level of luxury, convenience, and elegance, it’s absolutely worth it — but it may not fit every budget.
Noise Between Rooms: Our room had a connecting door to the neighboring room, and unfortunately, our neighbors were very loud throughout their entire stay. The walls felt thinner than we expected, and it definitely affected the peaceful vibe at times. If you’re a light sleeper, I’d recommend bringing a white noise machine or ear plugs — just in case you end up next to guests who are hard of hearing… or just really enthusiastic talkers.
I later looked it up using Touring Plans Room Finder, and found that there are rooms in the Old Pine Key building that do not connect to another room. Learn from my mistake and request a non-connecting room if that’s something that might affect your stay.
Lobby Construction: During our stay, the main lobby was under construction. While it didn't really impact our trip--the monorail was still running and all services were still available- it did take away from the usual elegance and beauty if the lobby. Hopefully it will be even more stunning once the updates are complete!—
Final Thoughts
The Grand Floridian is a gorgeous blend of luxury and classic Disney charm. It’s the kind of resort that feels special the moment you step into the lobby — even with some construction during our stay, the magic was still very much alive.
If you're dreaming of a stay at the Grand Floridian or just wondering which resort is the best fit for your family, I’d love to help you plan a trip that's practically perfect in every way!
