10 ways to save on your next Disney World Trip

How to Save Money on Your Disney Vacation Without Missing the Magic

Planning a Disney vacation is exciting—but let’s be honest, it can add up quickly! The good news? There are plenty of ways to make the most of the magic without breaking the bank. Here are my top tried-and-true tips to save on your Disney trip:

1. Book Your Trip Far in Advance

One of the easiest ways to budget for a Disney trip is to Book early!  When you plan ahead, you get:

Access to the best promotional offers (room and ticket discounts) Your choice of resort and room type before they fill up.  More time to make payments and budget for extras

💡 You could lock in your 2026 summer Disney World trip today with just a $200 deposit! This  would give you plenty of time to plan and pay it off gradually, making your dream trip much more affordable.

2. Travel During Value Seasons

Disney pricing fluctuates based on crowds. Want to save big?

Go in late August, early September, or mid-January

Avoid holiday weekends, spring break, or the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve.

These “off-season” dates usually mean lower prices on both resorts and park tickets.

3. Bring Your Own Snacks & Water

Did you know Disney lets you bring in your own food and drinks? Packing snacks, sandwiches, and refillable water bottles can save you hundreds over the course of your trip—especially with hungry kids!

You can:

Pack your own breakfasts, snacks, and drinks in your luggage

Or have groceries delivered directly to your resort via Instacart, Walmart, or Publix

Pro Tip: We usually eat the breakfast we packed right in our room. It saves us both money and time—we can quickly get ready and head out the door early to take advantage of shorter ride lines at park opening!

4. Use Disney Gift Cards

Buy Disney gift cards at a discount and use them to pay for your trip. Purchasing them at Target  with your red card always gives you 5% off.  BJ's also sells them at discounted and adds addition discounts periodically.  Then you can use a travel credit card and earn additional travel points to apply to your vacation.

5. Skip the Park Hopper Option

Unless you’re on a tight schedule or love park-hopping, a 1-park-per-day ticket is usually more budget-friendly and just as fun—especially with little ones who might burn out by mid-afternoon.

6. Use a Travel Agent (That’s Me!)

My services are completely free to you—and I help you:

Find the best discounts

Watch for new promotions (and apply them to your reservation!)

Plan smarter so you’re not overspending on extras you don’t need.

Working with a travel agent ensures you get the best value for your magical vacation.

7. Use Credit Card Points & Welcome Bonuses

Using rewards points is one of my favorite ways to save on travel—especially Disney trips!

Disney® Visa Credit Card often has a welcome bonus—right now you get $150 after you spend $500 in the first few months. That can go toward park tickets, dining, or even souvenirs! It also allows you get 6 months no interest on a Disney World packages.  This card also gives 10% off some dining and shopping at Disney World.

Another great card is the  Capital One Venture Card—it currently has a 75,000 point bonus when you spend $4,000 in 3 months, which can be redeemed for $750 in travel purchases like flights, hotels, or even part of your Disney package.

*Just be sure to pay it off in full to maximize the benefit and avoid interest charges!

8. Add a Rest Day to Your Itinerary

This one might surprise you—but skipping a park day can actually enhance your trip.

Give your body a break! Four straight days of 20,000+ steps is exhausting.

Use your resort’s pool, explore Disney Springs, or enjoy a slow-paced brunch.

Save on park tickets and in-park spending that day.

Pro Tip: In all of 2025 and summer 2026, Disney is offering free water park admission on your check-in day—so don’t waste a park ticket! Plan your arrival day as a fun, lower-cost splash day instead.

9. Think Twice Before Staying Off-Property

Some people suggest staying off Disney property to save money—but in many cases, it’s not the best value.

Disney has three levels of resorts—Value, Moderate, and Deluxe—and I’ve stayed in rooms from all three. The Value Resorts are budget-friendly while still offering so much magic, including:

Free parking at your resort

Early entry to all four theme parks

Movies under the stars and nightly campfires (with marshmallows!)

Easy transportation and magical touches all around

The rooms are smaller, but after the most recent renovations, they’re so well-organized—with cubbies, storage, and everything you need in a smart layout. They’re a fantastic base for your vacation, and you'll still feel immersed in the Disney magic from start to finish.

10. Purchase Souvenirs Ahead of Time

Souvenirs inside the parks can really add up—especially when kids want everything. One of our favorite money-saving tips is to shop before the trip!

Disneystore.com often has free shipping promos and great sales. We once scored a beautiful princess dress at 40% off, and my daughter wore it to her Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover. We only paid for the experience, and she still looked and felt magical—without the large price tag.

Amazon or Target are also great for bubble wands, spray fans, and glow sticks—all the things kids beg for in the parks, but at a fraction of the price.

Packing a few surprises ahead of time not only saves you money—it can also make your trip smoother and more magical.
