Staying at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort: A Budget-Friendly Stay in the Magic
During my Spring Break, my family spent three nights at Disney's All-Star Music Resort—and honestly, it was such a great reminder that you don’t have to splurge to enjoy the Disney magic.
I’ve stayed at almost every Disney resort over the years (all but five!), and while I absolutely love deluxe resorts like Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, they aren’t always in the budget. If you’re looking for an affordable way to stay “in the Disney bubble” at Walt Disney World Resort, All-Star Music is a fantastic option.
What You Get with a Value Resort Stay
Even at a value resort, Disney includes some pretty incredible perks:
- You stay fully immersed in the Disney bubble
- Fun, larger-than-life theming that keeps the magic going
- Friendly Cast Members and consistently clean rooms
- Free bus transportation to all parks and Disney Springs
- Early Theme Park Entry (30 minutes before off-site guests)
- Use of MagicBand, Key to the World card, or phone for room access, tickets, and charging
- Access to the Disney Dining Plan (with special 2026 offer: kids 3–9 eat free with a plan)
- Free parking at your resort and all theme parks
- Ability to book Lightning Lane selections earlier than off-site guests
- Summer 2026 perk: free water park admission on check-in day
First Impressions & Lobby Area
When you arrive, everything centers around Melody Hall—the main building. This is where you’ll find:
- Check-in area
- Plenty of seating
- A TV playing Disney cartoons (a lifesaver for kids!)
- Gift shop, food court, and arcade
You’ll walk through this building to get to the buses or your room, which makes everything feel very convenient.
Rooms at All-Star Music
There are three room types:
Standard vs. Preferred Rooms
The rooms themselves are identical—the only difference is location.
- Preferred rooms are closer to the lobby and buses
- Standard rooms are farther away but more budget-friendly
- Family Suites are larger rooms that sleep up to 6 people.
Inside the Standard and Preferred Room
These rooms sleep 4 people (plus one infant under 3). While they are on the smaller side, they are very well designed.
Features include:
- One queen bed + one Murphy bed (pulls down from the table)
- Table and chairs during the day → bed at night
- Plenty of charging options (outlets + USB ports everywhere!)
- Dresser, shelves, and in-room safe
- Large TV (we even used it to catch up on shows!)
Beverage Station
- Beverage cooler (note: not cold enough for milk storage)
- Coffee maker (brews two cups at once)
- Coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, and sweeteners
Tip: If you prefer stevia, grab some from the food court!
Bathroom Setup
The bathroom is split into two areas:
- Sink and vanity area (with lots of storage)
- Separate room with toilet and shower
The shower has sliding frosted glass doors. While many people love these, I personally prefer shower curtains—especially for families trying to share the space at the same time.
Family Suites
If you’re traveling with a larger group, the Family Suites at Disney's All-Star Music Resort are a fantastic option—and often the most affordable way for a family of six to stay together in one room on Disney property.
These suites can accommodate up to 6 guests (plus one child under age 3 in a crib) and are essentially designed like two connected spaces.
When you enter the room, you’ll walk into a living area that includes:
- A table and chairs (which converts into a queen-size Murphy bed)
- A couch (also pulls down into a queen-size Murphy bed)
This setup gives you plenty of space during the day, then easily transforms into sleeping space at night.
In the separate bedroom area, you’ll find:
- One queen-size bed
- Additional storage and space to spread out
One of the biggest perks? Two full bathrooms. This makes getting ready in the morning so much easier—especially for larger families trying to get out the door for early park entry.
The suite also includes a kitchenette-style area, featuring:
- A full-size refrigerator
- Microwave and sink
- Extra storage space for snacks and groceries
All Family Suites are located in the preferred sections (Calypso and Jazz), meaning you’re closer to the lobby, buses, and main pool. So not only are you getting more space—you’re also getting a more convenient location.
Pools & Recreation
There are two pools:
- The main guitar-shaped pool in the Calypso section (near the lobby)
- A smaller, quieter pool
There’s no water slide or splash pad, but there are still fun extras:
- Poolside activities
- Tie-dye t-shirt experience (for a small fee)
- Ping pong and pool table
- Playground for kids (great for burning energy quickly!)
Evening Activities
- Movies Under the Stars (not every night, but you can visit nearby resorts if needed)
- Campfire with s’mores (free marshmallows, kits available for purchase)
A Fun Hidden Gem: Find Goofy!
One of our favorite activities was the “Find Goofy” game.
Each day, a Goofy stand-up figure is hidden somewhere around the resort. When you find it:
- Take a photo
- Show it at the front desk
- Receive a pin (first day)
- Add a music note sticker each additional day
Such a simple but fun activity for kids!
Housekeeping
Rooms are cleaned every other day, which worked perfectly for us.
Even on non-cleaning days, a Cast Member typically stops by to:
- Empty trash
- Do a quick room check
Disney really does a great job maintaining their rooms—we’ve always found them clean and well cared for.
Dining at Intermission Food Court
The resort offers a quick-service food court with tons of variety:
- Burgers, pasta, pizza
- Chicken strips, fries, quesadillas
- Salads, salmon, and more
There’s truly something for everyone.
One night, we planned to eat elsewhere—but a sudden downpour changed our plans. The food court was packed, but mobile ordering saved us. We placed our order, picked it up quickly, and had a great meal while waiting out the rain.
Tip: Skip breakfast here on park days—eat something quick and get to the parks early. But on a rest day? Treat yourself to Mickey waffles… because everything tastes better Mickey-shaped!
Transportation
One of my favorite perks of staying on Disney property is transportation.
- Buses run about every 20 minutes
- Direct routes to parks and Disney Springs
- Clearly marked lines for each destination
Things to know:
- Buses can be crowded in the mornings and at night
- Strollers must be folded before boarding
- A collapsible bag for stroller items is super helpful
You can also drive yourself—and parking is free at all parks when staying on property.
Getting to Other Resorts
Disney does not offer direct resort-to-resort transportation.
To visit another resort:
- Take a bus to a park
- Then transfer to a bus (or monorail/boat) to your destination
Plan about an hour for this.
Examples:
- Going to Coronado Springs → bus to Animal Kingdom, then transfer
- Dining at Chef Mickey’s → bus to Magic Kingdom, then monorail to the Contemporary
Resort Theming
There are five themed sections:
- Calypso (preferred, near lobby, guitar pool)
- Jazz Inn (also preferred)
- Rock Inn
- Country Fair
- Broadway Hotel
Each area has fun, oversized icons:
- Giant maracas, drums, jukebox, cowboy boots, and Broadway-style signs
Classic Disney—big, bold, and super fun for photos!
Gift Shop: Maestro Mickey’s
Located right off the lobby, this shop has everything you might need:
- Disney merch (ears, shirts, MagicBands)
- Snacks and drinks
- Refrigerated items (milk, lunch meat, etc.)
- Swimsuits, sunscreen, and pool gear
- Stroller accessories and rain covers
- Basic essentials (Advil, diapers, etc.)
Laundry Facilities
Laundry is located near the pool—super convenient!
- Washers and dryers: $3.50 each
- Payment via QR code
- Detergent available in vending machines
This setup makes it easy for one adult to handle laundry while the kids swim.
Final Thoughts
While All-Star Music may not have the luxury of a deluxe resort, it absolutely delivers where it matters.
You still get:
- Disney magic
- Great transportation
- Fun theming
- Clean, comfortable rooms
If you’re trying to balance budget and experience, this resort is a fantastic choice.
Would I still choose the Polynesian if budget wasn’t a factor? Of course. But would I happily stay at All-Star Music again? Without hesitation.
